10 Things You Didn’t Know about Haitian Culture

Most people know Haiti as an island in the Caribbean, but how much of Haitian culture is known? Today, I’m sharing 10 facts on the culture as it pertains to my life!

As some of you already know, I was born in Haiti, but grew up in the United States. Even though I grew up in the U.S., I still was raised in a Haitian household, and that came with its own challenges. It might have been as simple as not understanding the popular game of football, or as serious as having to help parents translate everything. Often, I have to give out friendly reminders that my culture is a bit different than the standard ‘American’ lifestyle. As I’m sure some people are unfamiliar with Haitian culture, I’m sharing ten things you don’t know about it. Maybe you’ll know all of them already, or maybe you’ll learn something new 🙂 Continue reading “10 Things You Didn’t Know about Haitian Culture”

Feature Friday: Meet Marissa C.

Most people in the U.S. take cruises to either the Eastern or Western Caribbean, or to Alaska. Marissa and her family decided to go on a European cruise. Come find out what countries they stopped at, and what she thought about her trip!

Marissa and I go way back to my freshmen year of college. We met through swimming, as we were both on the swim team, and we hit it off immediately. We are similar in so many ways, we found it hilarious. After discovering the many ways, we concluded that we must have been separated at birth, and we even convinced someone that we were twins. One of the many things we share is our passion for travelling! Marissa has travelled to all sorts of places via car, plane, train, and boat. Her most recent trip was on a cruise. Come see what she has say!

A Guide to Finding the Right Airbnb For You

Airbnb is a great way to find accommodations for your next trip. Instead of staying in a hotel, try visiting a home away from home. This guide will give you the tools to figure out which place is right for you!

So many details go into planning the perfect trip. Your mode of transportation, your budget, your activities, your meals, and so much more. And let us not forget lodging. Depending on the location, most times people go for hotels. They’re easy, they’re what we know, and they have reviews. But you know what else we can look into for our next lodging needs? Airbnb.

Airbnb is a community built on the foundation of trust. A person, a family, or even a business rents out either a shared space, a private room, or an entire place to a complete stranger. You can find anything from the typical apartment or house, to more interesting places like mansions, boathouses, castles, or even tree houses and igloos.
