Feature Friday: Meet Alice R.

Being a student is hard. Being an international student is harder. Come learn about Alice’s college journey in the U.S.

When I went off to college, I didn’t realize how long it would take to adjust. Thinking about now, I know I wasn’t that far from home; however, at the time a 6.5 hour drive home seemed forever away. Freshmen year I watched most of my peers go home at least every other weekend. It was heartbreaking that I didn’t have the option to do the same. As time passed, each semester got easier being away from home and I started making more friends who also didn’t have opportunities to go home often. I befriended many international students, and as I began to learn their stories, I realized I was very luck in my college experience. I thought about if I would ever consider going to a different country for my undergraduate career and my thoughts led me to this conclusion: International students don’t get enough credit. Not only do they have to {potentially} start conversing in a different language, they are thousands of miles away from their families and their homes. Alice is one who had to endure those extra trials and tribulations, as well as being a student-athlete. Let’s find out what she has to say about travelling from Sweden to go to school in the United States! Continue reading “Feature Friday: Meet Alice R.”

There’s so many different aspects of travelling, including the pre-travel; what “needs” to get done before you depart. I’ll let you know I’m not all that great at it. Come find out the different ways.

Travelling isn’t all about the adventures. There has to be a planning stage, to some degree. Where are you going? How long are you staying? Where are you staying? Who are you going with? Orlando, Florida is home to the oh-so-famous theme park, Disney World.  Known as a haven for children and adult alike, there are so many experiences to be had at this amazing park. You don’t need to be a Disney enthusiast to enjoy all that Disney has to offer, but it sure wouldn’t hurt. I’ve known Courtney for about 10 years…give or take, and I have yet to find someone else who has such an affinity for Disney. Don’t get me wrong. I love Disney as much as the next guy, but her love for Disney is on a whole different level..a level I believe that can be shared by Disney employees.  It may look like all fun and games, but do we ever stop to think about all the hard work the employees have to do? Let’s find out what Courtney has to say about working at Disney! Continue reading “Feature Friday: Meet Courtney P.”

A More Efficient Way of Boarding a Plane?

I can’t be the only one who has questioned the methods of boarding a plane. Check out my thoughts on the matter!

Zone 1…now boarding.

Everyone who has travelled by plane has heard some variation of these words. Of course wing-221526_1920it makes sense to board those seated in first-class first, and then work our way to the back of the plane. But if we really think about it, does that really make sense? Is that the most efficient way to load a plane? Personally, I don’t think so. Continue reading “A More Efficient Way of Boarding a Plane?”
